Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Technology and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 gained 0.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Sonae Capital (LS:SONAC), which rose 2.32% or 0.0160 points to trade at 0.7060 at the close. Semapa (LS:SEM) added 2.27% or 0.2900 points to end at 13.0500 and Sonae (LS:YSO) was up 2.15% or 0.0180 points to 0.8550 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Nos SGPS SA (LS:NOS), which lost 0.91% or 0.0490 points to trade at 5.3200 in late trade. Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA) declined 0.87% or 0.0020 points to end at 0.2270 and CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LS:CTT) shed 0.86% or 0.0530 points to 6.0980.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 20 to 11 and 8 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for March delivery was down 2.15% or 1.19 to $54.28 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 2.13% or 1.12 to hit $51.36 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.01% or 0.15 to trade at $1213.05 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.22% to 1.0688, while EUR/GBP rose 0.59% to 0.8680.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.45% at 100.71.
