Investing.com – Mexico equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Materials, Financial Services and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC declined 0.99%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IPC were Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ELEKTRA), which rose 5.77% or 42.36 points to trade at 776.63 at the close. Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GCARSOA1) added 2.56% or 1.980 points to end at 79.220 and PINFRA SAB De CV (MX:PINFRA) was up 2.35% or 4.47 points to 194.37 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX:PENOLES), which lost 3.98% or 16.74 points to trade at 404.36 in late trade. Arca Continental , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:AC) declined 3.75% or 5.17 points to end at 132.52 and Nemak SAB de CV (MX:NEMAKA) shed 3.66% or 0.70 points to 18.44.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 164 to 144 and 11 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.50% or 6.35 to $1268.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 2.60% or 1.29 to hit $48.37 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 2.76% or 1.44 to trade at $50.80 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.34% to 18.6356, while EUR/MXN rose 0.15% to 20.9442.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 96.92.
