Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Finance & Investment, Communication and Textile sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.63%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Sony Corp (T:6758), which rose 3.70% or 153.0 points to trade at 4290.0 at the close. DeNA Co Ltd (T:2432) added 3.27% or 79.0 points to end at 2497.0 and Toho Co., Ltd. (T:9602) was up 3.12% or 105.0 points to 3475.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Nippon Yusen K.K (T:9101), which lost 2.85% or 6.0 points to trade at 204.5 in late trade. Trend Micro Inc. (T:4704) declined 2.12% or 120.0 points to end at 5550.0 and Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (T:5707) shed 1.42% or 6.0 points to 417.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2278 to 936 and 263 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 4.78% to 13.36.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.53% or 0.24 to $44.73 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.42% or 0.20 to hit $47.17 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.33% or 4.16 to trade at $1252.34 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.12% to 111.04, while EUR/JPY rose 0.09% to 124.29.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 96.89.
