Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Technology, Financials and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.88%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which rose 2.22% or 0.30 points to trade at 14.04 at the close. Vopak (AS:VOPA) added 0.50% or 0.23 points to end at 47.04 and Relx NV (AS:RELN) was up 0.34% or 0.050 points to 14.895 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aegon (AS:AEGN), which lost 11.37% or 0.549 points to trade at 4.278 in late trade. Gemalto (AS:GTO) declined 7.32% or 4.19 points to end at 53.05 and Boskalis Westmin (AS:BOSN) shed 5.07% or 1.78 points to 33.31.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 114 to 52 and 13 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 2.28% to 20.67.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.54% or 0.25 to $45.98 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.90% or 0.43 to hit $47.17 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.32% or 4.05 to trade at $1271.45 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.39% to 1.1382, while EUR/GBP fell 0.44% to 0.7874.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.28% at 94.06.
