Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Banking, Utilities and Retail sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite added 1.60%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr), which rose 14.29% or 0.0210 points to trade at 0.1680 at the close. Flexopack SA (AT:FLXr) added 7.87% or 0.2100 points to end at 2.8800 and Ellaktor SA (AT:HELr) was up 7.41% or 0.100 points to 1.450 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Select Textile (AT:EPIr), which lost 16.81% or 0.020 points to trade at 0.099 in late trade. Papoutsanis (AT:PSALr) declined 5.26% or 0.006 points to end at 0.108 and Intralot (AT:INLr) shed 1.89% or 0.017 points to 0.881.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 64 to 24 and 15 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.12% or 1.65 to $1360.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.33% or 0.15 to hit $45.26 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.36% or 0.17 to trade at $46.59 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.04% to 1.1046, while EUR/GBP fell 0.26% to 0.8501.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.32% at 96.62.
