Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.67%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 3.03% or 0.13 points to trade at 4.49 at the close. NN Group (AS:NN) added 1.84% or 0.53 points to end at 29.30 and Royal Dutch Shell A (AS:RDSa) was up 1.77% or 0.39 points to 22.11 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which lost 1.09% or 0.15 points to trade at 14.04 in late trade. SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO) declined 0.49% or 0.06 points to end at 11.19 and Gemalto (AS:GTO) shed 0.29% or 0.17 points to 58.48.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 92 to 66 and 17 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 5.47% to 19.89.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was up 3.42% or 1.38 to $41.74 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 3.69% or 1.58 to hit $44.41 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.02% or 0.30 to trade at $1257.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.20% to 1.1385, while EUR/GBP fell 0.21% to 0.7992.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.12% at 94.08.
