Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Mining and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 1.23% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN), which rose 3.61% or 13.55 points to trade at 389.15 at the close. ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) added 2.44% or 2.110 points to end at 88.660 and Tatneft OAO Pref (MCX:TATN_p) was up 2.27% or 6.20 points to 279.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Unipro (MCX:UPRO), which lost 3.27% or 0.0820 points to trade at 2.4250 in late trade. AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) declined 1.25% or 2000 points to end at 157500 and PhosAgro ao (MCX:PHOR) shed 1.13% or 26.0 points to 2275.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 111 to 89 and 24 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.38% to 22.880.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.53% or 18.97 to $1223.33 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.61% or 0.74 to hit $46.78 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.35% or 0.66 to trade at $49.43 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.69% to 59.3484, while EUR/RUB fell 0.26% to 67.4810.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.59% at 95.95.
