Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Industrials and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.03% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were bpost NV (BR:BPOST), which rose 3.21% or 0.40 points to trade at 12.86 at the close. Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) added 1.17% or 0.30 points to end at 25.92 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) was up 1.15% or 1.25 points to 110.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Telenet Group (BR:TNET), which lost 3.45% or 1.44 points to trade at 40.24 in late trade. Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) declined 1.34% or 0.67 points to end at 49.32 and KBC (BR:KBC) shed 0.76% or 0.500 points to 65.400.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 56 to 51 and 18 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.07% or 0.80 to $1226.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.25% or 0.17 to hit $67.33 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.60% or 0.43 to trade at $72.59 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.07% to 1.1652, while EUR/GBP rose 0.34% to 0.8922.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 94.80.
