Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Technology, Basic Materials and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.26% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ageas (BR:AGES), which rose 1.81% or 0.700 points to trade at 39.400 at the close. Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) added 1.74% or 0.23 points to end at 13.46 and Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) was up 1.17% or 0.74 points to 63.94 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Proximus NV (BR:PROX), which lost 3.26% or 0.78 points to trade at 23.02 in late trade. Argen-X (BR:ARGX) declined 2.75% or 2.70 points to end at 95.60 and Telenet Group Holding NV (BR:TNET) shed 2.03% or 0.84 points to 40.54.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 57 to 54 and 13 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.19% or 2.40 to $1289.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.31% or 0.16 to hit $52.20 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.16% or 0.10 to trade at $61.34 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.26% to 1.1511, while EUR/GBP rose 0.00% to 0.9023.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 95.028.
