Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Healthcare and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 1.65%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Umicore SA (BR:UMI), which rose 6.13% or 2.70 points to trade at 46.78 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 4.42% or 3.920 points to end at 92.700 and Telenet Group (BR:TNET) was up 2.25% or 1.35 points to 61.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB), which lost 0.86% or 0.90 points to trade at 103.60 in late trade. Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) added 0.05% or 0.05 points to end at 109.05 and KBC (BR:KBC) gained 0.08% or 0.060 points to 72.940.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 80 to 30 and 16 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.87% or 11.50 to $1327.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.30% or 0.77 to hit $59.97 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.88% or 0.55 to trade at $63.34 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.14% to 1.2267, while EUR/GBP rose 0.17% to 0.8877.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 90.18.
