Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Telecoms and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which rose 2.58% or 0.36 points to trade at 14.31 at the close. NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) added 2.57% or 1.06 points to end at 42.26 and UCB (BR:UCB) was up 0.89% or 0.60 points to 68.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB), which lost 1.16% or 1.35 points to trade at 115.50 in late trade. ING Groep NV (AS:ING) declined 1.14% or 0.125 points to end at 10.860 and Ageas (BR:AGES) shed 0.93% or 0.335 points to 35.585.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 83 to 62 and 11 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 1.32% or 16.50 to $1263.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.57% or 0.79 to hit $51.15 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.87% or 0.96 to trade at $52.40 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.41% to 1.1405, while EUR/GBP rose 0.32% to 0.7835.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.39% at 93.47.
