Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Basic Materials and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which rose 1.27% or 0.15 points to trade at 12.40 at the close. Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB) added 0.75% or 0.80 points to end at 107.70 and UCB (BR:UCB) was up 0.64% or 0.50 points to 78.08 in late trade.
Biggest losers included bpost NV (BR:BPOST), which lost 2.61% or 0.38 points to trade at 14.20 in late trade. Telenet Group (BR:TNET) declined 2.07% or 0.96 points to end at 45.48 and Argen-X (BR:ARGX) shed 1.48% or 1.00 points to 66.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 71 to 29 and 23 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.54% or 6.50 to $1198.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.62% or 0.45 to hit $71.83 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.22% or 0.18 to trade at $81.08 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.16% to 1.1748, while EUR/GBP fell 0.11% to 0.8916.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 93.84.
