Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 1.05% or 0.980 points to trade at 94.660 at the close. bpost NV (BR:BPOST) added 0.84% or 0.11 points to end at 13.24 and UCB (BR:UCB) was up 0.60% or 0.44 points to 73.34 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Argen-X (BR:ARGX), which lost 2.32% or 1.70 points to trade at 71.60 in late trade. ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) declined 1.55% or 0.164 points to end at 10.390 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) shed 1.41% or 0.25 points to 17.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 58 to 47 and 22 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.09% or 1.10 to $1224.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.20% or 0.14 to hit $68.98 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.28% or 0.22 to trade at $79.56 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.44% to 1.1463, while EUR/GBP rose 0.27% to 0.8841.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.37% at 95.80.
