Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Technology, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.36% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Umicore NV (BR:UMI), which rose 1.76% or 1.20 points to trade at 69.51 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 1.74% or 1.490 points to end at 87.080 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) was up 1.71% or 2.15 points to 128.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ageas (BR:AGES), which lost 1.41% or 0.565 points to trade at 39.405 in late trade. Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) declined 0.75% or 0.21 points to end at 28.42 and Proximus NV (BR:PROX) shed 0.67% or 0.20 points to 29.05.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 69 to 41 and 8 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.05% or 0.63 to $1288.43 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.40% or 0.73 to hit $51.41 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.04% or 0.60 to trade at $56.97 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.28% to 1.1780, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.8769.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 93.06.
