Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Consumer Services and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 0.83%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which rose 7.74% or 0.312 points to trade at 4.341 at the close. Sacyr (MC:SCYR) added 3.43% or 0.055 points to end at 1.660 and Tecnicas Reunidas (MC:TRE) was up 3.15% or 0.800 points to 26.200 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5), which lost 0.34% or 0.035 points to trade at 10.135 in late trade. Grifols SA (MC:GRLS) declined 0.30% or 0.060 points to end at 20.060 and Indra A (MC:IDR) shed 0.15% or 0.015 points to 10.065.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 143 to 52 and 24 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 1.25% or 15.60 to $1259.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.56% or 0.62 to hit $40.34 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.86% or 0.78 to trade at $42.72 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.12% to 1.1416, while EUR/GBP fell 0.76% to 0.8017.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.31% at 93.93.
