Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Healthcare, IT and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite added 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Bombardier Inc (TO:BBDb), which rose 15.31% or 0.470 points to trade at 3.540 at the close. Canopy Growth Corp (TO:WEED) added 10.76% or 3.410 points to end at 35.090 and Aphria Inc (TO:APH) was up 5.49% or 1.050 points to 20.160 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Home Capital Group Inc . (TO:HCG), which lost 4.81% or 0.89 points to trade at 17.62 in late trade. Element Fleet Management Corp (TO:EFN) declined 3.09% or 0.27 points to end at 8.47 and Cameco Corp (TO:CCO) shed 2.99% or 0.35 points to 11.37.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 573 to 534 and 136 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 1.69% to 12.79.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.95% or 13.00 to $1349.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.08% or 0.71 to hit $66.22 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.13% or 0.09 to trade at $70.51 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.45% to 0.8115, while CAD/EUR rose 0.21% to 0.6531.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 88.91.
