Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Energy and Clean Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite gained 0.14% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Guyana Goldfields Inc . (TO:GUY), which rose 8.49% or 0.360 points to trade at 4.600 at the close. Colliers International Group Inc (TO:CIGI) added 7.86% or 5.51 points to end at 75.61 and DHX Media Ltd B (TO:DHXb) was up 7.32% or 0.29 points to 4.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Shopify Inc (TO:SHOP), which lost 8.53% or 11.960 points to trade at 128.260 in late trade. Eldorado Gold Corporation (TO:ELD) declined 6.90% or 0.12 points to end at 1.62 and New Gold Inc . (TO:NGD) shed 5.32% or 0.240 points to 4.270.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 673 to 456 and 130 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 1.76% to 11.70 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.47% or 5.99 to $1271.71 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.55% or 0.30 to hit $54.45 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.40% or 0.24 to trade at $60.83 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.51% to 0.7752, while CAD/EUR fell 0.52% to 0.6654.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 94.44.
