Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Healthcare, Utilities and Clean Technology sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite declined 0.01%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Primo Water Corp (TSX:PRMW), which rose 11.48% or 1.55 points to trade at 15.05 at the close. Ag Growth International Inc (TSX:AFN) added 10.59% or 2.59 points to end at 27.04 and Kinaxis Inc (TSX:KXS) was up 10.03% or 15.29 points to 167.68 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Bombardier Inc (TSX:BBDb), which lost 15.09% or 0.080 points to trade at 0.450 in late trade. SNC-Lavalin Group Inc . (TSX:SNC) declined 8.93% or 2.15 points to end at 21.92 and Bausch Health Companies Inc (TSX:BHC) shed 8.65% or 2.10 points to 22.18.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 642 to 434 and 82 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

 

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 2.25% or 37.95 to $1726.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 2.25% or 0.54 to hit $23.45 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.98% or 0.29 to trade at $29.43 a barrel.

CAD/USD was up 1.12% to 0.7147, while CAD/EUR rose 0.80% to 0.6600.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 99.905.
