Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Healthcare, Energy and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite lost 0.23%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Canadian Tire Corp Ltd (TO:CTCa), which rose 10.84% or 16.25 points to trade at 166.10 at the close. Pason Systems Inc . (TO:PSI) added 9.71% or 2.00 points to end at 22.59 and Cascades Inc . (TO:CAS) was up 7.31% or 0.74 points to 10.87 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bombardier Inc (TO:BBDb), which lost 23.20% or 0.740 points to trade at 2.450 in late trade. Trican Well Service Ltd . (TO:TCW) declined 14.05% or 0.260 points to end at 1.590 and Altus Group Limited (TO:AIF) shed 12.90% or 3.910 points to 26.400.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 635 to 474 and 116 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 2.75% to 16.65.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.15% or 1.90 to $1224.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.67% or 1.03 to hit $60.64 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.82% or 1.31 to trade at $70.76 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.29% to 0.7604, while CAD/EUR rose 0.25% to 0.6691.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.71% at 96.49.
