Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Healthcare, Clean Technology and IT sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite declined 0.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Endeavour Silver Corp. (TSX:EDR), which rose 10.71% or 0.740 points to trade at 7.650 at the close. SSR Mining Inc (TSX:SSRM) added 9.08% or 1.79 points to end at 21.50 and ARC Resources Ltd . (TSX:ARX) was up 7.66% or 0.63 points to 8.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lithium Americas Corp (TSX:LAC), which lost 10.43% or 1.72 points to trade at 14.77 in late trade. Trillium Therapeutics Inc (TSX:TRIL) declined 8.58% or 1.05 points to end at 11.19 and AcuityAds Holdings Inc (TSX:AT) shed 8.16% or 1.070 points to 12.050.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 551 to 511 and 104 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.66% or 29.55 to $1813.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.30% or 0.85 to hit $64.78 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.15% or 0.79 to trade at $68.17 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.75% to 0.8212, while CAD/EUR rose 0.30% to 0.6810.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.43% at 90.905.
