Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financial Services, Chemicals and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.34%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.92%, and the TecDAX index added 0.23%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn), which rose 2.53% or 0.78 points to trade at 31.36 at the close. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) added 1.75% or 0.210 points to end at 12.195 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) was up 1.67% or 0.385 points to 23.460 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Boerse AG Z.UMT. (DE:DB11), which lost 1.37% or 1.14 points to trade at 82.36 in late trade. Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) declined 1.05% or 0.930 points to end at 87.960 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) shed 0.92% or 0.170 points to 18.310.
The top performers on the MDAX were Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (DE:DWNG) which rose 3.70% to 31.070, GEA Group AG (DE:G1AG) which was up 3.58% to settle at 38.675 and LEG Immobilien AG (DE:LEGn) which gained 2.34% to close at 75.580.
The worst performers were Metro AG ST O.N. (DE:MEOG) which was down 2.20% to 29.990 in late trade, Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which lost 1.48% to settle at 44.535 and Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which was down 0.96% to 9.31 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which rose 2.40% to 8.192, Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was up 1.80% to settle at 41.015 and Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which gained 1.54% to close at 45.160.
The worst performers were Alix Resources Corp (F:37N2) which was down 7.69% to 0.036 in late trade, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which lost 2.20% to settle at 49.300 and SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 1.53% to 22.860 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 423 to 321 and 23 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.39% to 16.78.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.29% or 3.55 to $1235.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.87% or 0.99 to hit $52.02 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 1.47% or 0.82 to trade at $54.90 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.48% to 1.0696, while EUR/GBP fell 0.68% to 0.8561.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.42% at 100.26.
