Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Utilities, Basic Resources and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.39%, while the MDAX index added 1.54%, and the TecDAX index climbed 1.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 5.40% or 0.870 points to trade at 16.970 at the close. E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) added 3.21% or 0.230 points to end at 7.395 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn) was up 2.39% or 0.415 points to 17.800 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN), which lost 1.06% or 1.85 points to trade at 172.50 in late trade. Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG) declined 0.87% or 0.95 points to end at 107.75 and Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) shed 0.67% or 0.550 points to 81.700.
The top performers on the MDAX were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which rose 7.17% to 4.99, GEA Group AG (DE:G1AG) which was up 3.90% to settle at 36.800 and Krones AG O.N. (DE:KRNG) which gained 3.80% to close at 110.700.
The worst performers were Alstria Office Reit-Ag (DE:AOXG) which was down 1.10% to 11.635 in late trade, Suedzucker AG (DE:SZUG) which lost 0.85% to settle at 19.340 and LEG Immobilien AG (DE:LEGn) which was down 0.05% to 82.000 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which rose 5.75% to 21.145, S&T AG (F:SANT1) which was up 5.61% to settle at 12.991 and Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which gained 3.45% to close at 77.590.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 1.56% to 23.345 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which lost 1.43% to settle at 13.110 and Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was down 1.40% to 12.355 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 524 to 230 and 17 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 8.81% to 13.99.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.04% or 0.49 to $1252.31 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.31% or 1.14 to hit $50.49 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 2.30% or 1.21 to trade at $53.72 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.76% to 1.1187, while EUR/GBP rose 0.13% to 0.8596.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.61% at 97.17.
