Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumer & Cyclical, Media and Software sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.61%, while the MDAX index lost 0.94%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.66%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which rose 3.38% or 0.206 points to trade at 6.306 at the close. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) added 2.52% or 0.325 points to end at 13.210 and Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn) was up 1.03% or 1.650 points to 162.050 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn), which lost 3.01% or 1.195 points to trade at 38.560 in late trade. Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn) declined 2.29% or 1.680 points to end at 71.630 and Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN) shed 2.14% or 3.250 points to 148.950.
The top performers on the MDAX were Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which rose 1.85% to 8.71, Airbus Group SE (F:AIRG) which was up 1.27% to settle at 52.152 and Talanx AG NA O.N. (DE:TLXGn) which gained 1.00% to close at 26.200.
The worst performers were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was down 7.53% to 5.39 in late trade, Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which lost 3.47% to settle at 83.340 and STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (DE:STAGn) which was down 2.55% to 48.140 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which rose 4.47% to 19.275, Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which was up 1.44% to settle at 62.740 and STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which gained 1.32% to close at 55.850.
The worst performers were Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was down 3.17% to 27.21 in late trade, SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which lost 2.74% to settle at 31.420 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which was down 2.15% to 53.360 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 535 to 345 and 23 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.86% to 18.88.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.31% or 4.05 to $1312.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 3.02% or 1.40 to hit $44.95 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 3.04% or 1.48 to trade at $47.25 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.13% to 1.1157, while EUR/GBP fell 0.29% to 0.8494.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.04% at 96.01.
