Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Resources, Telecoms and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.89%, while the MDAX index fell 1.13%, and the TecDAX index fell 1.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn), which rose 0.84% or 0.790 points to trade at 94.800 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) added 0.45% or 0.042 points to end at 9.342 and Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) was up 0.12% or 0.15 points to 121.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn), which lost 2.38% or 0.400 points to trade at 16.395 in late trade. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) declined 2.33% or 0.555 points to end at 23.315 and Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) shed 2.22% or 3.95 points to 173.65.
The top performers on the MDAX were LEG Immobilien AG (DE:LEGn) which rose 0.76% to 84.590, Aareal Bank AG (DE:ARLG) which was up 0.39% to settle at 34.925 and Schaeffler AG Pref (DE:SHA_p) which gained 0.17% to close at 14.94.
The worst performers were Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which was down 3.69% to 33.400 in late trade, Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which lost 3.20% to settle at 47.310 and Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which was down 2.65% to 91.64 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which rose 0.42% to 59.350, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was up 0.30% to settle at 11.765 and Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which gained 0.14% to close at 38.05.
The worst performers were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was down 6.43% to 77.660 in late trade, Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which lost 4.34% to settle at 10.900 and Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which was down 3.82% to 39.980 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 503 to 216 and 23 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 10.65% to 14.41.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.58% or 20.19 to $1255.71 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.49% or 0.22 to hit $44.51 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.19% or 0.09 to trade at $46.91 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.67% to 1.1143, while EUR/GBP fell 0.68% to 0.8740.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.62% at 97.51.
