Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Utilities, Basic Resources and Consumer & Cyclical sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 1.12%, while the MDAX index fell 1.25%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.65%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn), which rose 0.15% or 0.04 points to trade at 30.06 at the close. Deutsche Boerse AG Z.UMT. (DE:DB11) fell 0.01% or 0.01 points to end at 83.84 and SAP SE (DE:SAPG) was down 0.11% or 0.090 points to 85.140 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG), which lost 3.61% or 0.880 points to trade at 23.470 in late trade. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) declined 3.34% or 0.420 points to end at 12.145 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) shed 2.97% or 0.570 points to 18.610.
The top performers on the MDAX were LEG Immobilien AG (DE:LEGn) which rose 1.59% to 72.150, Metro AG ST O.N. (DE:MEOG) which was up 0.33% to settle at 31.780 and Alstria Office Reit-Ag (DE:AOXG) which gained 0.31% to close at 11.445.
The worst performers were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was down 3.96% to 4.53 in late trade, Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which lost 3.06% to settle at 35.950 and Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which was down 2.96% to 38.617 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Alix Resources Corp (F:37N2) which rose 8.33% to 0.039, Software AG O.N. (DE:SOWG) which was up 5.47% to settle at 33.755 and Bechtle AG (DE:BC8G) which gained 0.92% to close at 95.000.
The worst performers were GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which was down 3.41% to 19.530 in late trade, Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which lost 3.32% to settle at 49.005 and RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was down 3.14% to 12.030 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 532 to 200 and 19 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 10.24% to 16.71.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.52% or 6.25 to $1197.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.90% or 0.48 to hit $52.69 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.50% or 0.28 to trade at $55.42 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.15% to 1.0683, while EUR/GBP rose 0.54% to 0.8566.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 100.50.
