Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Technology, Telecoms and Chemicals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 1.99%, while the MDAX index fell 1.16%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.84%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn), which fell 0.61% or 0.26 points to trade at 42.34 at the close. Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG) fell 0.79% or 0.780 points to end at 97.760 and Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn) was down 0.79% or 1.45 points to 182.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which lost 4.06% or 0.436 points to trade at 10.306 in late trade. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) declined 3.50% or 0.307 points to end at 8.453 and Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) shed 3.12% or 1.840 points to 57.200.
The top performers on the MDAX were Grand City Properties SA (DE:GYC) which rose 2.21% to 23.10, LEG Immobilien AG (DE:LEGn) which was up 2.16% to settle at 98.480 and Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (DE:AT1) which gained 1.06% to close at 7.120.
The worst performers were K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which was down 7.16% to 21.010 in late trade, Schaeffler AG Pref (DE:SHA_p) which lost 4.07% to settle at 12.02 and Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which was down 3.80% to 42.070 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Bechtle AG (DE:BC8G) which rose 4.93% to 83.000, Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which was up 2.98% to settle at 294.00 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which gained 2.74% to close at 71.250.
The worst performers were Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which was down 6.53% to 11.338 in late trade, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which lost 6.31% to settle at 134.350 and Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which was down 5.05% to 13.150 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 504 to 206 and 64 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 17.74% to 17.93 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.03% or 0.40 to $1219.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.20% or 0.80 to hit $67.61 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.14% or 0.82 to trade at $72.89 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.06% to 1.1406, while EUR/GBP fell 0.55% to 0.8937.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.75% at 96.18.
