Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Technology, Media and Retail sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Utilities, Consumer & Cyclical and Basic Resources sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.31%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.29%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.86%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn), which rose 2.66% or 0.620 points to trade at 23.930 at the close. Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG) added 1.97% or 0.530 points to end at 27.440 and Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) was up 1.93% or 3.55 points to 187.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which lost 5.56% or 1.240 points to trade at 21.055 in late trade. Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG_p) declined 4.26% or 5.15 points to end at 115.80 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) shed 1.19% or 0.260 points to 21.665.
The top performers on the MDAX were Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which rose 7.39% to 37.150, Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (DE:JUNG_p) which was up 5.24% to settle at 38.375 and Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which gained 4.17% to close at 58.270.
The worst performers were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was down 3.86% to 3.11 in late trade, Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which lost 2.44% to settle at 39.820 and Schaeffler AG Pref (DE:SHA_p) which was down 2.22% to 13.90 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which rose 6.05% to 55.000, Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was up 5.73% to settle at 40.60 and Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which gained 3.97% to close at 137.500.
The worst performers were Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which was down 5.37% to 74.060 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which lost 3.51% to settle at 7.430 and Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which was down 2.07% to 10.865 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 447 to 302 and 41 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 5.44% to 14.81.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.02% or 0.22 to $1279.12 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 2.26% or 1.28 to hit $55.48 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 2.20% or 1.39 to trade at $61.77 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.86% to 1.1767, while EUR/GBP rose 0.61% to 0.8950.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.53% at 93.90.
