Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Travel, Media and Retail sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite added 1.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Iaso (AT:IASr), which rose 8.53% or 0.074 points to trade at 0.942 at the close. Elvalhalcor Hellenic Copper and Aluminium Industry SA (AT:ELHA) added 4.95% or 0.055 points to end at 1.165 and Thrace Plastic (AT:THRr) was up 3.96% or 0.075 points to 1.970 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Intralot (AT:INLr), which lost 5.82% or 0.032 points to trade at 0.518 in late trade. Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr) declined 4.68% or 0.0022 points to end at 0.0448 and Loulis Mills (AT:LOUr) shed 3.88% or 0.08 points to 1.98.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 56 to 48 and 10 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.49% or 6.00 to $1227.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.74% or 0.93 to hit $54.36 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.72% or 0.45 to trade at $62.98 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.23% to 1.1396, while EUR/GBP rose 0.24% to 0.8912.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 96.562.
