Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Travel, Media and Retail sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite added 1.95%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Public Power (AT:DEHr), which rose 8.20% or 0.10 points to trade at 1.32 at the close. Intralot (AT:INLr) added 7.69% or 0.035 points to end at 0.490 and Mytilineos Holdings SA (AT:MYTr) was up 5.93% or 0.430 points to 7.680 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Nireus Aqua (AT:NIRr), which lost 7.61% or 0.014 points to trade at 0.165 in late trade. Crete Plastics SA (AT:PLAKR) declined 6.45% or 0.800 points to end at 11.600 and Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr) shed 4.49% or 0.0022 points to 0.0490.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 65 to 41 and 21 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.50% or 6.20 to $1224.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.83% or 0.94 to hit $50.51 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 1.79% or 1.07 to trade at $58.84 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.65% to 1.1319, while EUR/GBP fell 0.46% to 0.8869.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.44% at 97.125.
