Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Idemitsu Kosan Co Ltd (T:5019), which rose 4.19% or 122.0 points to trade at 3035.0 at the close. JGC Corp. (T:1963) added 3.31% or 56.0 points to end at 1746.0 and IHI Corp. (T:7013) was up 3.29% or 84.0 points to 2641.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Advantest Corp. (T:6857), which lost 2.95% or 160.0 points to trade at 5260.0 in late trade. Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (T:6976) declined 2.57% or 78.0 points to end at 2952.0 and Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. (T:4568) shed 2.20% or 156.0 points to 6923.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2281 to 1233 and 261 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 15.32.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.90% or 0.53 to $58.67 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.95% or 0.61 to hit $63.78 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.14% or 2.05 to trade at $1467.15 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.08% to 108.50, while EUR/JPY unchanged 0.00% to 120.05.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 97.620.
