Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Insurance, Shipbuilding and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 1.26%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (T:4506), which rose 5.80% or 125.0 points to trade at 2282.0 at the close. Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. (T:4568) added 4.30% or 188.0 points to end at 4563.0 and Familymart Ltd (T:8028) was up 3.78% or 370.0 points to 10160.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included JGC Corp. (T:1963), which lost 4.30% or 97.0 points to trade at 2158.0 in late trade. Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (T:6976) declined 3.79% or 113.0 points to end at 2871.0 and Hokuetsu Kishu Paper Co., Ltd. (T:3865) shed 2.66% or 17.0 points to 622.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1692 to 1651 and 251 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 2.80% to 16.69.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.50% or 0.34 to $67.88 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.89% or 0.69 to hit $78.06 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.12% or 1.40 to trade at $1201.20 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.34% to 111.50, while EUR/JPY rose 0.64% to 129.65.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 94.94.
