Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 1.52%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were JGC Corp. (T:1963), which rose 8.84% or 78.0 points to trade at 960.0 at the close. Yokogawa Electric Corp. (T:6841) added 8.52% or 108.0 points to end at 1375.0 and J.Front Retailing Co., Ltd. (T:3086) was up 8.31% or 65.0 points to 847.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Eisai Co., Ltd. (T:4523), which lost 8.90% or 691.0 points to trade at 7076.0 in late trade. Advantest Corp. (T:6857) declined 2.25% or 115.0 points to end at 4985.0 and Recruit Holdings Co Ltd (T:6098) shed 1.08% or 30.0 points to 2758.5.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 3102 to 553 and 116 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 42.02.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 8.27% or 1.14 to $14.92 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 5.94% or 1.21 to hit $21.58 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.06% or 1.00 to trade at $1739.30 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.07% to 107.80, while EUR/JPY fell 0.18% to 116.36.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 100.683.
