Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Transport, Transportation Equipment and Communication sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 1.84%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Showa Denko K.K. (TYO:4004), which rose 6.55% or 152.00 points to trade at 2,471.00 at the close. CyberAgent Inc (TYO:4751) added 6.29% or 76.00 points to end at 1,285.00 and Rakuten Inc (TYO:4755) was up 5.48% or 32.00 points to 616.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Nichirei Corp. (TYO:2871), which lost 1.59% or 36.00 points to trade at 2,224.00 in late trade. KDDI Corp. (TYO:9433) declined 0.72% or 32.00 points to end at 4,416.00 and Osaka Gas Co., Ltd. (TYO:9532) shed 0.62% or 15.00 points to 2,414.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 3206 to 376 and 174 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 4.06% to 26.20.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.76% or 1.90 to $109.89 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.85% or 0.97 to hit $115.10 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.26% or 4.85 to trade at $1,835.75 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.06% to 135.16, while EUR/JPY rose 0.42% to 142.56.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 103.94.
