Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Transportation Equipment, Gas & Water and Manufacturing sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. (T:4568), which rose 5.00% or 165.0 points to trade at 3468.0 at the close. Toshiba Corp. (T:6502) added 3.71% or 12.0 points to end at 335.5 and Kirin Holdings Co., Ltd. (T:2503) was up 2.37% or 64.5 points to 2781.5 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mitsui Mining and Smelting Co. (T:5706), which lost 2.86% or 195.0 points to trade at 6615.0 in late trade. Nippon Electric Glass Co., Ltd. (T:5214) declined 2.65% or 125.0 points to end at 4590.0 and Mitsubishi Electric Corp (T:6503) shed 2.37% or 51.5 points to 2123.8.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2093 to 1294 and 201 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 1.67% to 15.85.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.16% or 0.10 to $63.41 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.28% or 0.19 to hit $68.80 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.22% or 2.90 to trade at $1330.20 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.08% to 110.79, while EUR/JPY rose 0.06% to 135.53.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 90.37.
