Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Mining, Glass and Insurance sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 1.30%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Tokai Carbon Co., Ltd. (T:5301), which rose 9.40% or 30.0 points to trade at 349.0 at the close. Meanwhile, TDK Corp. (T:6762) added 7.31% or 580.0 points to end at 8510.0 and T&D Holdings, Inc. (T:8795) was up 4.91% or 77.0 points to 1644.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd. (T:6703), which fell 13.64% or 27.0 points to trade at 171.0 at the close. Obayashi Corp. (T:1802) declined 5.71% or 59.0 points to end at 974.0 and Shimizu Corp. (T:1803) was down 5.09% or 52.0 points to 970.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1161 to 708 and 1 ended unchanged.
Shares in Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd. (T:6703) fell to 52-week lows; falling 13.64% or 27.0 to 171.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 1.54% to 23.61.
Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.15% or 0.07 to $47.83 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.11% or 0.06 to hit $50.41 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.54% or 6.00 to trade at $1120.10 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.01% to 121.06, while EUR/JPY fell 0.15% to 132.54.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 97.35.
