Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Tobacco, Technology Hardware & Equipment and Household Goods & Home Construction sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were CRH PLC (LON:CRH), which rose 1.70% or 43.00 points to trade at 2580.00 at the close. Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS) added 1.67% or 125.00 points to end at 7590.00 and Sports Direct International PLC (LON:SPD) was up 1.50% or 4.900 points to 332.300 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (LON:RBS), which lost 3.52% or 7.200 points to trade at 197.100 in late trade. Intu Properties PLC (LON:INTUP) declined 2.18% or 6.80 points to end at 305.60 and Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LON:LLOY) shed 2.13% or 1.30 points to 59.65.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1200 to 958 and 423 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.21% or 2.85 to $1330.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.33% or 1.03 to hit $45.18 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.49% or 0.70 to trade at $47.53 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.14% to 1.3314, while EUR/GBP fell 0.29% to 0.8376.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.13% at 95.75.
