Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Utilities, Consumer Services and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were KBC (BR:KBC), which rose 4.56% or 2.080 points to trade at 47.735 at the close. Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) added 0.93% or 0.47 points to end at 51.06 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) was up 0.65% or 0.09 points to 13.22 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Umicore NV (BR:UMI), which lost 1.19% or 0.54 points to trade at 44.27 in late trade. UCB (BR:UCB) declined 1.10% or 0.73 points to end at 65.77 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) shed 1.06% or 0.95 points to 88.34.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 76 to 66 and 9 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.36% or 4.55 to $1270.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.30% or 0.14 to hit $46.09 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.76% or 0.36 to trade at $47.24 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.45% to 1.1375, while EUR/GBP fell 0.46% to 0.7873.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.33% at 94.11.
