Investing.com – Spain stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Financial Services & Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 added 1.99%.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Obrascon Huarte Lain (MADRID:OHL), which rose 6.48% or 0.815 points to trade at 13.385 at the close. Meanwhile, Gas Natural (MADRID:GAS) added 6.01% or 1.045 points to end at 18.425 and Inditex (MADRID:ITX) was up 6.01% or 1.720 points to 30.320 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Abertis Infr (MADRID:ABE), which fell 3.72% or 0.550 points to trade at 14.250 at the close. Sacyr (MADRID:SCYR) declined 1.36% or 0.030 points to end at 2.220 and Caixabank SA (MADRID:CABK) was down 0.81% or 0.029 points to 3.561.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 152 to 52 and 5 ended unchanged.
Shares in Sacyr (MADRID:SCYR) fell to 52-week lows; falling 1.36% or 0.030 to 2.220.
Gold for December delivery was up 1.87% or 20.60 to $1123.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 5.88% or 2.62 to hit $47.21 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 4.28% or 2.04 to trade at $49.80 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.40% to 1.1315, while EUR/GBP fell 0.52% to 0.7304.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.44% at 95.34.
