Investing.com – Mexico equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Telecoms Services, Materials and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC lost 0.53% to hit a new 52-week low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GCARSOA1), which rose 2.91% or 1.720 points to trade at 60.780 at the close. Arca Continental , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:AC) added 2.69% or 3.11 points to end at 118.86 and Kimberly - Clark De Mexico A (MX:KIMBERA) was up 1.59% or 0.530 points to 33.790 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grupo Televisa SAB Unit (MX:TLVACPO), which lost 3.15% or 2.18 points to trade at 67.09 in late trade. Grupo Aeroportuario Del CentroNorte (MX:OMAB) declined 2.22% or 2.200 points to end at 97.050 and Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX:PENOLES) shed 1.57% or 5.44 points to 340.03.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 85 to 61 and 15 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.48% or 6.20 to $1297.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 2.08% or 1.41 to hit $66.47 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.49% or 1.14 to trade at $75.33 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.22% to 19.6025, while EUR/MXN rose 0.08% to 22.7903.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 94.36.
