Investing.com -- U.S. stocks edged higher in volatile trading on Thursday as more earnings roll out. Here are the midday movers for July 21:

Discover Financial Services (NYSE:DFS) shares fell 9.4% after the card company said it would suspend buybacks amid an investigation into its student loan servicing practices.

AT&T Inc (NYSE:T) shares fell 7.2% after the telecommunications giant said customers were starting to pay their bills a few days later than usual, hitting its cash flow by $1 billion in the quarter.
- Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) shares rose 9.4% after the electric vehicle maker beat expectations and said it sold about 75% of its Bitcoin holdings.

American Airlines Group (NASDAQ:AAL) shares fell 7.9% after it said it would hold back on capacity in the third quarter despite strong travel demand amid higher ticket prices. United Airlines Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:UAL) shares fell 9.6% after it also said it would rein in capacity growth plans, citing ongoing system-wide operational issues.

Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) shares rose 1% after the e-commerce giant said it would buy One Medical, which provides primary healthcare services, for $3.9 billion.
