Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Technology, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.84% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Gemalto (AS:GTO), which rose 5.62% or 2.63 points to trade at 49.47 at the close. Koninklijke Boskalis Westminster NV (AS:BOSN) added 2.14% or 0.66 points to end at 31.21 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was up 2.12% or 0.555 points to 26.685 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS:RDSa), which lost 0.31% or 0.085 points to trade at 27.590 in late trade. Wolters Kluwer (AS:WLSNc) declined 0.05% or 0.02 points to end at 44.34 and Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) gained 0.05% or 0.04 points to 74.46.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 86 to 29 and 13 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 8.59% to 9.30 a new 5-year low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was down 0.68% or 0.39 to $56.94 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.24% or 0.15 to hit $63.08 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.67% or 8.40 to trade at $1265.90 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.43% to 1.1799, while EUR/GBP fell 0.19% to 0.8806.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.38% at 93.11.
