Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Financials and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which rose 4.43% or 0.40 points to trade at 9.52 at the close. Koninklijke Vopak NV (AS:VOPA) added 1.36% or 0.51 points to end at 38.12 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was up 1.28% or 1.180 points to 93.240 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which lost 2.27% or 0.680 points to trade at 29.280 in late trade. ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) declined 1.90% or 0.317 points to end at 16.349 and Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) shed 1.25% or 0.237 points to 18.713.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 74 to 47 and 7 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 0.55% to 10.26.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 1.29% or 0.82 to $64.39 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 1.10% or 0.76 to hit $69.79 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.41% or 5.40 to trade at $1337.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.19% to 1.2285, while EUR/GBP rose 0.17% to 0.8783.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 89.99.
