Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Insurance, Food, Beverages & Tobacco and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 added 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE), which rose 3.03% or 1.17 points to trade at 39.41 at the close. Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) added 0.90% or 0.010 points to end at 1.120 and Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) was up 0.15% or 0.01 points to 6.51 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN), which lost 4.48% or 0.030 points to trade at 0.640 in late trade. Firstcity Bnk (LAGOS:FCMB) declined 4.42% or 0.05 points to end at 1.08 and Fbn Holdings (LAGOS:FBNH) shed 2.26% or 0.070 points to 3.030.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 15 to 15 and 57 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.17% or 0.08 to $47.41 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.10% or 0.05 to hit $49.62 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.28% or 3.65 to trade at $1328.25 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 8.11% to 355.320, while USD/NGN fell 0.47% to 317.500.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.52% at 95.17.
