Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Food, Beverages & Tobacco and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 added 3.69% to hit a new 3-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB), which rose 9.95% or 0.210 points to trade at 2.320 at the close. Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) added 9.84% or 0.060 points to end at 0.670 and Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) was up 8.96% or 0.060 points to 0.730 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES), which lost 1.76% or 1.80 points to trade at 102.00 in late trade. Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT) declined 0.68% or 0.020 points to end at 2.920 and Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) shed 0.64% or 0.14 points to 21.66.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 70 to 9 and 21 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.56% or 0.35 to $63.31 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.16% or 0.11 to hit $68.93 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.34% or 4.50 to trade at $1318.20 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.65% to 432.810, while USD/NGN fell 0.14% to 359.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 92.05.
