Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Finance & Investment, Textile and Marine Transport sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.63% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were SUMCO Corp. (T:3436), which rose 8.37% or 78.0 points to trade at 1010.0 at the close. Advantest Corp. (T:6857) added 5.60% or 78.0 points to end at 1471.0 and JTEKT Corp. (T:6473) was up 5.30% or 83.0 points to 1650.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kao Corp. (T:4452), which lost 5.66% or 325.0 points to trade at 5418.0 in late trade. Fuji Electric Co., Ltd. (T:6504) declined 5.36% or 28.0 points to end at 494.0 and Ricoh Co., Ltd. (T:7752) shed 4.35% or 39.0 points to 858.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2022 to 942 and 357 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 1.89% to 18.16 a new 52-week low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.14% or 0.07 to $49.65 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.10% or 0.05 to hit $50.42 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.02% or 0.25 to trade at $1269.75 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.10% to 105.38, while EUR/JPY rose 0.20% to 114.97.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.06% at 98.86.
