Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking, Basic Materials and Media sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 added 0.69%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Bank Zachodni WBK SA (WA:BZW), which rose 6.87% or 25.30 points to trade at 393.65 at the close. LPP SA (WA:LPPP) added 4.47% or 378.00 points to end at 8838.00 and Jastrzebska Spotka Weglowa SA (WA:JSW) was up 3.99% or 3.70 points to 96.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Enea SA (WA:ENAE), which lost 6.72% or 0.84 points to trade at 11.66 in late trade. PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna SA (WA:PGE) declined 4.65% or 0.59 points to end at 12.09 and Grupa Azoty SA (WA:ATTP) shed 4.26% or 2.95 points to 66.30.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 255 to 236 and 188 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.41% or 0.23 to $56.83 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.64% or 0.40 to hit $62.84 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.49% or 6.10 to trade at $1254.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 0.17% to 4.2245, while USD/PLN rose 0.61% to 3.5878.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.32% at 93.70.
