Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Construction, Media and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.56% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index added 0.84%, and the TecDAX index climbed 1.55%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn), which rose 3.36% or 1.310 points to trade at 40.300 at the close. Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) added 2.63% or 2.140 points to end at 83.590 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) was up 2.46% or 0.390 points to 16.230 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (DE:DPWGn), which lost 2.50% or 0.825 points to trade at 32.175 in late trade. Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) declined 2.33% or 2.65 points to end at 110.95 and Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) shed 2.04% or 4.20 points to 201.30.
The top performers on the MDAX were Hochtief AG (DE:HOTG) which rose 3.02% to 170.40, Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (DE:JUNG_p) which was up 2.74% to settle at 32.845 and Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which gained 2.60% to close at 12.62.
The worst performers were Schaeffler AG Pref (DE:SHA_p) which was down 2.12% to 15.48 in late trade, K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which lost 1.89% to settle at 21.490 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was down 0.86% to 69.230 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were S&T AG (F:SANT1) which rose 6.85% to 13.780, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was up 4.26% to settle at 68.810 and Jenoptik AG (DE:JENG) which gained 4.15% to close at 25.730.
The worst performers were Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which was down 2.99% to 9.788 in late trade, Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which lost 2.44% to settle at 11.200 and SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 1.79% to 23.330 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 503 to 278 and 16 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.13% to 14.53.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.08% or 1.05 to $1256.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.88% or 0.43 to hit $48.41 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.72% or 0.37 to trade at $51.15 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.14% to 1.0913, while EUR/GBP fell 0.14% to 0.8448.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 98.96.
