Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Consumer Goods and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 rose 0.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA), which rose 4.24% or 0.0070 points to trade at 0.1720 at the close. Sonae Capital (LS:SONAC) added 2.41% or 0.0140 points to end at 0.5950 and Mota Engil (LS:MOTA) was up 2.36% or 0.0400 points to 1.7350 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sonae (LS:YSO), which lost 1.07% or 0.0070 points to trade at 0.6500 in late trade. J. Martins SGPS (LS:JMT) declined 1.00% or 0.1500 points to end at 14.8100 and CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LS:CTT) shed 0.14% or 0.0100 points to 7.3100.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 27 to 15 and 9 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for October delivery was up 2.23% or 0.96 to $44.06 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.38% or 0.97 to hit $41.80 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.33% or 4.45 to trade at $1369.15 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.12% to 1.1136, while EUR/GBP rose 1.41% to 0.8486.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.18% at 95.66.
