Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Telecoms and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 gained 0.83%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Altri SGPS (LS:ALSS), which rose 4.99% or 0.1450 points to trade at 3.0510 at the close. Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA) added 4.81% or 0.0050 points to end at 0.1090 and The Navigator Company SA (LS:NVGR) was up 3.02% or 0.0760 points to 2.5900 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Montepio (LS:MPIO), which lost 0.99% or 0.005 points to trade at 0.501 in late trade. CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LS:CTT) declined 0.93% or 0.0660 points to end at 7.0480 and Banco BPI (LS:BBPI) shed 0.81% or 0.0090 points to 1.0990.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 32 to 12 and 3 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for September delivery was down 0.04% or 0.02 to $49.69 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.06% or 0.03 to hit $48.30 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 1.41% or 18.65 to trade at $1339.25 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.43% to 1.1153, while EUR/GBP rose 0.79% to 0.8400.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.34% at 95.62.
