Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Real Estate, Auto and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.77%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.65%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which rose 1.61% or 8.25 points to trade at 521.20 at the close. Bharti Infratel Limited (NS:BHRI) added 1.33% or 4.250 points to end at 323.000 and ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) was up 1.22% or 3.30 points to 274.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tata Motors DV Ltd (NS:TAMdv), which lost 9.86% or 29.35 points to trade at 268.40 in late trade. Tata Motors Ltd . (NS:TAMO) declined 9.41% or 45.35 points to end at 436.70 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) shed 4.20% or 27.30 points to 622.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which rose 0.96% to 273.40, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was up 0.53% to settle at 2415.70 and HDFC Bank Ltd. (BO:HDBK) which gained 0.49% to close at 1317.00.
The worst performers were Tata Motors Ltd. (BO:TAMO) which was down 10.32% to 436.55 in late trade, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which lost 4.25% to settle at 622.50 and TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO:TISC) which was down 2.57% to 460.10 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1259 to 253 and 48 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2111 fell and 653 advanced, while 136 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.97% to 14.2125.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.13% or 1.55 to $1226.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.47% or 0.25 to hit $52.95 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.30% or 0.17 to trade at $55.80 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.14% to 66.921, while EUR/INR fell 0.15% to 70.5914.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 101.47.
